Learn about the Jobs and Companies that Comprise the Employment Agencies Category

from:

There is a very broad scope for jobs and companies that comprise the employment agencies category. Almost everything falls into this category, except for self-employment. All companies hiring manpower and all job seekers seeking work in exchange for monetary gain are classified in the employment agencies category.

The first ever employment agency in the US was opened in 1893 by a certain Fred Winslow; he called it the Engineering Agency. Winslow opened the agency in response to the ambitious and infectious energy of the Industrial Revolution which gripped America at the time. From there, employment agencies have become more numerous and more diverse while at the same time becoming more specialized.

To protect the rights of the working class and give them a “voice” during legislative hearings, the American Staffing Association or ASA was created in 1966 and was based in Alexandria, Virginia. The founding members at that time operated more than 15,000 staffing offices all over the country or roughly, about 85% of the sales of the staffing industry. Aside from being a political force, ASA today also researches, sponsors and publishes pertinent resources like statistics, market trends, etc. which they avail to both employers and job seekers.

There are sub-categories under the employment agencies category, which include: executive recruitment, temporary staffing, student employment, and talent staffing.

Under the employment agencies category, executive recruitment means consultation in business executive searches and installation. This type of employment agency also provides assistance to various large and medium scale hiring companies with:
• Administration and business communication
• Policies, practices and procedures relating to human resources
• Benefits planning, salary planning, employee compensation planning

Under the employment agencies category, temporary staffing or temporary help service means offering jobs for short durations between a per-diem basis job, up to a year job, and everything in between. Aside from background checks and skills testing, these agencies also offer:

• Advice on benefits administration
• Managing labor and union relations
• Payroll accounting including tax return preparation and of course,
• Recruiting and installation for:
o Agricultural farms and food production companies
o Health care workers for medical, health and rehabilitation facilities
o Operating staff for facilities support service companies

Under the employment agencies category, student employment means part time work for students in high school and college. These jobs may also have such durations as a per-diem basis job, up to a year job, and everything in between – but with great deference to the grades and schooling schedule of the student. Some agencies also offer financial loans and scholarships to deserving students.

Under the employment agencies category, talent staffing means managing, promoting and representing the careers of artists, entertainers, performers, sports figures and the like.
